G'day mates! As some of you might know a couple of friends and I are planning to cross the globe next summer and get a feel for the sun-burned land - Australia. This blog is aimed to document this trip for a few reasons, the main one being that it gives the authorities a timeline just incase we get attacked by one of Australia's many deadly animals (including killer snails...)! Bon voyage and here's to a sucessful, safe trip!

Sydney
Easily the most hyped city in Australia, and for good reason. I've seen pictures of the Oprah house obviously but seeing it in person is different, it sits so majestically opposite the Harbour Bridge and presents itself as one of the most picturesque sights on the Earth. It's amazing that at one point it was seen as waste of money but has become as integral to the Aussie identity as the Aborigines or Vegemite. We're staying in Kings Cross which is always buzzing, to the point that we can go out tonight, a Monday, and bank on the youthful, upbeat vibe that the place is famed for. It will definitely be a shame when we have to move on in a few days but we can only afford Sydney for so long, plus beaches provide an adequate alternative ;p We'll fly to Cairns, which is Great Barrier Reef territory, in a couple of days then work our way down to Brisbane hitting as many beaches and picking as much fruit as humanly possible! The backpacker life is just so rewarding, no strings attached, no worries, just have fun and meet some very interesting (and strange) people. Of all the people we've bumped into, mostly German for some reason, one guy we met in Adelaide stands out. We walked in on him flying his "plane"(stick) around to tribal music with face paint before he brought out his toy cars and proceeded to marvel at how great his stick was for flinging cars around the room! I got in on the action too at one point and we had a nice philosophical conversation to accompany this surreal situation! So Australia is definitely not lacking in diversity to say the least.. :D
